It is true that a country must be responsible for the protection of its citizens. While many people argue that defense should be made up a considerable percentage of the national budget. In my opinion, federal budget should be invested heavily in the others to protect citizens.
To begin with, it is my belief that governments should spend state budget for health service and economy to guarantee the safety of residents. Granted, curing the serious diseases is also a virtual war needed a variety of money from administrations to protect the citizens. For example, in the developing countries, many ill people will die if they cannot be supported finance from administrations immediately. Besides, going through the economy crisis a difficult task needed a variety of money from governments to protect the citizens. For example, in the economic crisis, in the world, many company would go bankrupt, which would lead to both the suicide of company managers and the increase of the unemployment. Admittedly, governments can protect the survival of both managers and employees by providing economic aid.
However, some people argue that to protect citizens, defense should take up a significant proportion of national budget. It is true to a certain extent because such choice will lead to strengthen defense of countries by purchasing modern weapons such as chemical weapons or nuclear weapons; therefore, the ability of countries protection, especially citizens protection, in the war is likely to increase. However, nowadays, in the peaceful time, weapons is a partial of uselessness in target’s defense, and less efficient than health services and financial aid. Admittedly, modern weapons can not only causes the inability of citizens protection, they but also become the liability of citizens. Therefore, investing in medical services and economy is more efficient to protect citizens.
From the reasons concerned above, not only should governments invest national budget to guarantee citizens’ healthy but administrations also spend money to secure and develop the economy, which are, after all, to protect citizens in country.
