The idea of having a single career is becoming an old fashioned one. The new fashion will be to have several careers or ways of earning money. Do you agree or disagree with this idea?

Having only  one career in whole life seems to be an old fashioned one nowadays. In the past, people always focused on one  job what they wanted to do or what they knew best. They believed that they could save enough money by staying with this job in entire life. This is true for that time because there were a few companies, which means that there was no need to have  the people doing several careers. Nevertheless, in the present time, when there are more and more companies, the idea of having a single career is considered to be not suitable anymore.
Instead of this, people now tend to have  several careers or ways of earning money, which will be a new fashion. There are several good reasons for it. Firstly, the people today are surprisingly different than the past. They are more active and energetic, they want to be perfect people who have a lot ability to do different kind of jobs and they really can do it well. Secondly, because of the higher requirement, people realize that a single career does not provide enough money for them, so they need to have some another jobs. Moreover, the companies also want to employ the one who can do various types of job. For example, they would prefer a teacher who not only teaches well but also has the nice voice to sing for some events or party.

In modern life, there is a new fashion which having several careers or ways of earning money. However, having a single career, in my opinion, has never ever an old fashioned one.

Firstly, being an expert on a job is better than doing lots of work but master no one. This is because the more we concentrate on single career, the more effective the result is. So we can earn much more money and our living standard will improve obviously.

Secondly, having an only job can help people develop their talents and hobbies. For example, each person always finds the true career of their lifetime. That lifetime career is what makes them be really keen on and feel destined to do in long term. Therefore, they often tend to try their best to improve themselves and to be better at work.

There are some reasons of issue: people need to have several careers or ways of earning money, in modern society.

Firstly, social development requires people need to have more knowledge and skills as well as more dynamic. Employers requires employees have multi-skill and knowledge in various fields. In an old fashion, employees only need one skill to take a job, for example: garment workers just know how to sew good. But now, in the new fashion, to have a good position in the job. It also means have a good salary level, a garment worker have to seize hot-trend, market. It could be understand they both learned sew and business. Other professions also require the same.

Secondly, the working environment is highly competitive in modern society, so if person have multi-skill, they could get a job and can work at different positions and those who only have a skill, could not get a desirable salary.

In addition, there is the tendency. A lot of people have jobs, earn more money in the same time period. Others will not want inferior and they want to be like them. Therefore, more and more people learn other discipline and skills.

There are obvious advantages of having several careers. Firstly, it becomes easier to make a living with a number of careers. For example, a teacher, apart from teaching in school, can earn more money by doing as a tutor. Secondly, those who having some careers hardly worry about unemployment. As a result, they will feel more confident and comfortable to do whatever they like. Finally, people, with a variety of careers, have an easy adaptability with new environment. This is because they used to experience several different fields in their career, so they have accumulated a large amount of knowledge to cope with any problems in their work.

Disagree because: - with one career , people can concentrate totally on a job which is their specialization.
- If individuals have several careers they will be very busy and have to suffer enormous stress from working.
- Those are able to develop great working relationships.
- It is easier for an employee to build up trust with his/her boss.

Having a single career is never becoming an old fashion one because which provides obvious advantages. Firstly, with just one career , we can concentrate totally on a job which is our specialization. In contrast, if people have several careers, it will be very difficult to focus on one career because they have to share time with many works, so which limits amount of time spent with family and friends. For example, a woman who is both an accountant and boss of some shops, so she regularly misses deadline in a company and makes her manager angry. Secondly, it is easier for an employee to build up trust with his/her employer. This is because all of the bosses like loyal workers and give them important assignments, which is why they have more opportunities to promote in career.
