should people have several careers or ways of earning money

In recent times there has much debate about whether people should have several careers of earning money. It is my belief that having several careers of earning money is more beneficial for people. Firstly, doing many jobs reduce risk of being fired. That reason is demonstrated in the rule "don't put all your eggs in one basket". Secondly, it is possible to gain a wide range of experience in different fields because people experience different working environment. Therefore, laborer also is able to adapt quickly to new working environments. Finally,a objective reason is rising unemployment and salary freezes, thus it is difficult to find one full-time job. Therefore, workers are forced to do a lot of part-time or flexible jobs instead.

I think people should have multiple careers or ways rather than a single career because of several reasons. Firstly, having some occupations would benefit people with higher earning capacities. A report that I have read on bbc.co.uk website have indicated that unemployment is the most popular problem in modern life. Therefore, when people have different careers, they do not have to face with financial pressures. Further, these extra incomes will lead to a high standard of living. Secondly, for many people, a different career could be a hobby or a talent in other fields such as music, …  This not only helps them to guarantee their job insecurity, but also satisfies their passion for it. For instant, one of my aunts, who is an accountant of a large bank and also a piano teacher, lost her job during economic recession. She survived only because of her musical ability. Thus, having more than one profession would make people have opportunities to work at different positions.
